Our committees and task forces respond to a changing climate by investigating the key issues affecting the regulation of physical therapy care. They are committed to developing the programs and policy recommendations to assist jurisdictions in the common mission of protecting the public.

Continuing Competence Committee
Ray Bilecky Ohio
This committee makes recommendations regarding the continuing competence model as it is developed; recommends practice act and rules language related to continuing competence and implementation of the model; assists in evaluating tools that might be appropriate for demonstrating ongoing competence and makes recommendations on the continued development and integration of FSBPT continuing competence tools.

Education Committee
Veronica Reynolds South Carolina
This committee plans the educational sessions at Federation meetings and provides logistical support throughout the meeting.

Ethics and Legislation Committee
Peg Hiller Arizona
This committee is responsible for developing and analyzing methods to improve consumer protection. It recommends position statements regarding disciplinary and standards of practice issues to the Board of Directors and continues to review and update the Model Practice Act for Physical Therapy.

Examination Administration Committee
Jim Heider Oregon
This committee monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of all policies related to registering candidates for and administering the NPTE, as well as reporting examination results to candidates, licensing authorities, and other stakeholders.

Examination Development Committee - PT
Matthew Garber Kentucky

This committee oversees the item construction and exam review process in order to maintain the validity and reliability of the PT National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).

Exam Development Committee – PTA
John D. Lowman, Jr. Alabama
This committee oversees the item construction and exam review process in order to maintain the validity and reliability of the PTA National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).

Finance Committee
Kathy Fleischaker Minnesota
This committee develops and presents an annual budget to the Board of Directors, advises the Board on matters pertaining to the Federation’s financial needs, growth, and stability, and monitors the financial stability of the Federation through a review of monthly financial statements.

Foreign Educated Physical Therapist Standards Committee
Jeanne DeKrey North Dakota
This committee recommends updates to the Coursework Evaluation Tool (CWT); assures that the CWT is validated and oversees the validation process; promotes the use of the CWT and Retro Tools; develops and maintains quality assurance tools and processes for agencies that use the CWT; evaluates and recommends additional measures to assure entry-level competence of foreign educated PTs (including clinical competence); provides input to the Board of Directors related to security issues in testing that are specifically related to foreign educated PTs.

Investment Committee
E. Dargan Ervin South Carolina
This committee ensures that the Federation’s investment policies are up-to-date and when necessary, recommends actions to the Federation Board to meet investment goals and policies.

Item Bank Review Committee- PT
Kevin Van Wart Florida
This committee is primarily responsible for reviewing new items sent from the item writer coordinators. The committee members verify the rubric, diagnostic code, rationale, and reference for each item. They review groups of pretest items for overlap among concepts before the items are given to the EDC. They also review the items sent back from the EDC and make revisions.

This committee is primarily responsible for reviewing new items sent from the item writer coordinators. Nominating Committee
Jeanne DeKrey North Dakota
The Nominating Committee selects a slate of appropriate candidates for the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee positions.

Resolutions Committee
Jim Hughes Iowa
The Resolutions Committee receives and correlates motions and resolutions to be presented to the Delegate Assembly and identifies motions which fall outside the purpose of the Federation. The committee provides advice and counsel to delegates regarding form, wording, and method of presentation of matters to the Delegate Assembly.
