What is the Practice Review Tool (PRT)?
Currently, there is one PRT available for physical therapists – the PRT - General Practice (PRTGP). It is designed to allow physical therapists to assess whether they are sufficiently competent in the knowledge areas and systems common to all physical therapy practice settings. Some jurisdictions will also give continuing education/continuing competence credits for completion of the PRT.

The PRT is composed of scenarios with approximately five multiple choice questions in each scenario, for a total of 125 questions. The test is 2 ½ hours long, but the appointment is for a total of three hours as it includes a mandatory tutorial and post-test survey.

Results include a Completion Certificate and Candidate Feedback Report, which are given only to the licensee who took the PRT. In the Candidate Feedback Report, overall performance, knowledge areas and systems will each receive a score of either “Sufficiently Qualified” or “Needs Improvement.” Licensees are responsible for sending their results to the licensing board to qualify for CE credits for renewal purposes.
