Information Systems Junior Application Developer

Position requirements:


  • This position is located at the Alexandria, Virginia office. The work must be performed onsite at this location.


  • Exempt


  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major/minor in computer science.


  • Three years or more experience designing, developing and maintaining web based applications.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Essential Programming Languages:
    • Intermediate experience with Microsoft ASP.NET.
    • Basic understanding of jQuery/jQuery-UI and JavaScript framework stack
    • Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or greater
    • An understanding of Microsoft IIS 7.0 or greater
    • Has worked with Microsoft .Net 3.5 Framework or greater (Preferably .Net 4.0 Framework)
    • Has experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 or greater (Preferably Visual Studio 2015)
    • Solid understanding of object oriented programming (OOP) concepts.
    • Familiarity with LINQ-to-SQL or other object-relational mapping (O/RM) implementations (i.e., Entity Framework, Nhibernate, etc)
    • Familiarity with writing unit tests
  • Non-Essential (i.e., Nice to have) Programming Languages:
    • ASP.Net MVC
    • Team Foundation Server (TFS)
    • Windows PowerShell
    • TeamCity or similar continuous integration servers
    • MvcContrib and “Portable Areas” concept
    • SQL Server database administration and programming – intermediate experience
    • .NET Framework – intermediate experience
    • HTML / DHTML / XML – intermediate experience
    • JavaScript/CSS – intermediate experience
    • Familiarity with Twitter Bootstrap
    • Basic understanding of the systems development life cycle
    • Basic knowledge of database theory and ability to apply theory to practical applications
    • Analytical skills for data mining, interpreting and creating reports from raw data
  • Architecture:
    • Demonstrates basic knowledge of object and component methodology and technology
    • Possesses basic knowledge of classes, components, objects, and interfaces
    • Recognizes the fundamental differences between the various internet browsers
