The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) is committed to being transparent during this COVID-19 pandemic by providing up-to-date, accurate information. As an organization, we are committing to following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations while working to minimize the impact on candidates, schools, and member jurisdictions.
FSBPT is in frequent communication with Prometric regarding the possibility of additional test center closures. At this time, Prometric has no further closures to announce. If FSBPT is notified about additional closures that impact the April PT exam or the July exams, that information will be posted on the FSBPT COVID-19 Updates page as soon as possible. You should also visit Prometric’s website for updates regarding test center operations.
Unless your graduation date will be delayed by more than ninety days, there is nothing that you need to do. If you have specific questions about your cohort, please email email@example.com.
At this time, FSBPT believes there will be sufficient time to process candidate eligibility for the July exams. FSBPT will also work with jurisdictions to assist them with processing candidate eligibility as quickly as possible.
If your student registers to sit for the NPTE in a state that has opted into FSBPT’s alternate approval process (AAP), they will automatically be made eligible to sit for the exam once they register for the NPTE. Please note, this doesn’t address the board’s requirement of proof of program completion to actually determine eligibility for a license. Although FSBPT cannot address what will happen if your student registers in a non-AAP jurisdiction, we are working with our member boards to see how they might handle this situation.
At this time, FSBPT is considering many options for accommodating candidates who have been, or will be, displaced due to Prometric test center closures. Although the current Prometric announcement extends through April 16, we cannot say when the centers will reopen. We are working closely with Prometric to evaluate a number of options to return to testing.
