NPTE® Workshop for Educators

Learn about our upcoming workshops.

Purpose

The workshop includes presentations from FSBPT staff and item writer trainers on item writing, test construction, preparing students for the NPTE, registering for and taking the NPTE, and other relevant topics. There will also be time for one-on-one assistance from trainers and staff.

The Virtual Workshop works differently from the in-person workshop. It is a self-paced course, with much of the workshop material delivered through on-demand videos. Supplementing these videos are quizzes, a discussion board, one-on-one sessions with item writer trainers and FSBPT staff, and periodic “Ask Us Anything” live web events on a set of topics open to all workshop registrants. Workshop participants who are from qualifying schools will also receive a copy of their school’s most recent Content Area Report and Graduate Performance Report.

The workshop materials will be open through October 1, 2025.

Registration

Registration is open and will close when the workshop is full or on June 12, 2025. You will receive access to the materials shortly after you register.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I get continuing education (CE) credit for attending the course?

A: Rules for CE vary by jurisdiction, but many licensing jurisdictions award credit for this workshop. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will receive a certificate listing their total number of hours attended.

Q: Can my school pay for my registration?
A: We can accept third-party payments, but registrations that are not paid within thirty days will be canceled. You will not receive access to the virtual workshop materials until your registration is paid.

Q: When will I receive my printed materials?
A: For the virtual workshop, we only provide materials online. Materials include the video presentations, notes pages corresponding to the video presentations, school reports, and quizzes.

Q: Do I need to have access to textbooks during the workshop?
A: Textbooks are not required, but they might be helpful if you are interested in discussing how to improve particular questions you have written with our item writing trainers.

Q: How many on-demand presentations do I need to review, and how do I access those?
A: There are approximately 12 video presentations, including some optional material. We might also provide additional updates as they become available. Videos range from 10 minutes to 40 minutes in length, and many attendees view the presentations multiple times. As a general rule, you want to think about spending 12-15 hours minimum viewing the video material over the course of the workshop. All workshop materials are available in the Event Portal once your registration is confirmed.

Q: What if I need to cancel?
A: If you need to cancel, please email npte@fsbpt.org to let us know. Because the virtual workshop is self-paced, we will not issue refunds once you receive access to the materials.

Q: Is it permissible to share materials that I receive from the Workshop for Educators?
A: Yes, you can share it with your colleagues. We ask that you not share it widely, as these documents are frequently updated.
