Who must take the CA JAM?

All applicants for a new license in California must take and pass the California Jurisprudence Assessment Module prior to licensure.

California licensees meet the two hours in ethics, laws, and regulations continuing competence requirements by completing the CA JAM. Credit may be claimed once per competence cycle.

For more information, visit the website of the Physical Therapy Board of California.

Purpose of the CA JAM

The CA JAM is an online and on-demand learning and assessment tool developed in partnership with the Physical Therapy Board of California to meet the Jurisprudence Assessment Module requirement for applicants for initial licensure and for licensees renewing a PT or PTA license in California. The CA JAM meets the two hours in ethics, laws, and regulations that are required.

Takers are required to answer 80% of the questions correctly to pass the CA JAM. There is no limit on the number of attempts.

Browser Compatibility

JAM is compatible with most browsers. We cannot ensure that JAM will work with all versions of browsers and all versions of operating systems. If you experience difficulty, consider trying to relaunch JAM in one of the following browsers: The latest version of Firefox and Chrome and Safari on Mac. We will update this list when additional browsers and operating systems become available.
