Registration Process

To ensure your registration for the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) goes as smoothly as possible, you should carefully and thoroughly review the information below:

Arrange to take the NPTE

Exam candidates must follow the step-by-step registration process below:

    Find out What your Jurisdiction Requires

    Taking the NPTE may be just one of the requirements for licensure. Some states require that you take a jurisprudence exam before you take the NPTE.

    Complete a State Application Form

    Obtain, review and complete application materials from the licensing authority of the jurisdiction in which you seek licensure.

    Register and Pay for Exam

    Register and pay for the NPTE using FSBPT's Exam Services website. You may also use this online processing system to register and pay for FSBPT administered jurisprudence exams and jurisprudence assessment modules.

    Request Testing Accommodations

    If you have a disability covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), you may request testing accommodations at the time you register.

    Obtain Jurisdiction Approval

    The jurisdiction licensing authority, or their authorized designee, will approve your eligibility and notify FSBPT. We will send you an Authorization to Test (ATT) letter (view sample) containing instructions on how to schedule an appointment with Prometric.
